How to Use the App
- Upload an image: Click the file input to select a JPEG, PNG, WebP, or TIFF image
- Review metadata: The app will scan and display any embedded metadata found
- Clean metadata: Click "Clean metadata" to remove all hidden data
- Add to design: Drag or click the cleaned image to add it to your Canva design

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What types of metadata does the app remove?
A: The app removes all EXIF, IPTC, and XMP metadata including GPS location, camera make/model, date/time taken, artist information, copyright notices, and software used.
Q: What image formats are supported?
A: The app supports JPEG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF images. JPEG images typically contain the most metadata.
Q: Will cleaning affect my image quality?
A: The app re-encodes images at 95% quality for JPEG, which preserves excellent visual quality. PNG images are re-encoded losslessly. There may be minimal differences, but they are generally imperceptible.
Q: Is my image uploaded to any server?
A: No. All processing happens locally in your browser. Your images are never sent to any external server. The only upload occurs when you add the cleaned image to your Canva design (via Canva's official API).
Q: Why doesn't the app detect any metadata in my image?
A: Not all images contain metadata. Screenshots, images already processed by some apps, or images from certain sources may have no embedded metadata.
Q: Can I undo the metadata removal?
A: The original file on your device is not modified. The app creates a new cleaned version. If you've already added the cleaned image to your Canva design, use Canva's undo feature (Ctrl+Z / Cmd+Z).
Q: Why does the app show "Privacy risks detected"?
A: This warning appears when the app finds potentially sensitive data like GPS coordinates (which reveal where the photo was taken), camera information (which can identify your device), or timestamps.
Q: Can I clean multiple images at once?
A: Currently, the app processes one image at a time. After adding a cleaned image to your design, click "Clean another image" to process additional images.
