By using Skeletal Formula ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
The App is a free tool available within the Canva platform that allows users to:
- Search over 119 million molecules from PubChem by name, SMILES, molecular formula, or CAS number
- Generate clean, scalable skeletal structure diagrams (bond-line notation)
- Customize diagram appearance (theme, atom coloring, size)
- Insert molecular diagrams into Canva designs
3. Open Source Attribution
This App uses SmilesDrawer, an open-source JavaScript library for rendering SMILES notation to SVG.

4. Use of the App
4.1 Permitted Use
You may use the App to:
- Create skeletal structure diagrams for personal or commercial purposes
- Generate molecular diagrams for educational materials, research, and publications
- Insert molecular structure images into your Canva designs
- Print and distribute designs containing the generated diagrams
4.2 Prohibited Use
You may NOT use the App to:
- Misrepresent molecular structures in a way that could cause harm (e.g., incorrect safety data)
- Use the App for any illegal purpose
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or access the App's source code
- Abuse the PubChem API by circumventing rate limits or automating bulk requests
5. Third-Party Data Sources
Important: Molecule data is sourced from PubChem, a public database maintained by the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI):
- PubChem data is freely available for public use
- The developer does not guarantee the accuracy or completeness of PubChem data
- PubChem's usage policies apply: PubChem Programmatic Access
- An internet connection is required for molecule searches (SMILES input works offline)
6. No Warranty
The App is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to:
- Warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
- Warranties that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure
- Warranties regarding the accuracy of the rendered molecular structures
- Warranties regarding the availability of the PubChem API
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
The developer (Naveen Bhavnani) shall not be liable for any damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to:
- Errors in rendered molecular structures
- Losses from printed or distributed materials containing diagrams
- Business losses or lost profits
- Any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
- Damages arising from reliance on molecular data for safety-critical purposes
8. Accuracy of Diagrams
Important: While the App strives to accurately render skeletal structure diagrams:
- You should verify the output before use in professional, academic, or safety-critical contexts
- Complex molecules may not render perfectly in all cases
- Stereochemistry representations should be independently verified
- The App is provided as a convenience tool, not a substitute for professional chemistry software
9. Compliance with Laws
You must comply with all applicable laws and regulations when using the App, including but not limited to:
- Intellectual property laws
- Regulations regarding chemical information dissemination
- Educational standards and guidelines
10. Canva Platform Terms
Your use of this App is also governed by:
In case of conflict between these Terms and Canva's terms, Canva's terms shall prevail.
11. Intellectual Property
The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by Naveen Bhavnani and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.
The skeletal structure diagrams you generate using the App may be used freely. Molecular structures themselves are scientific facts and are not subject to copyright.
12. Modifications to the App
We reserve the right to:
- Modify, suspend, or discontinue the App at any time without notice
- Update features or functionality
- Change these Terms of Service (changes will be posted on this page)
Continued use of the App after any such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, if:
- You violate these Terms
- You use the App for illegal purposes
- Required by law or Canva's policies
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Naveen Bhavnani from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of the App
- Molecular diagrams you create and distribute
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your violation of any third-party rights
15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
16. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
17. Dispute Resolution
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved through good faith negotiations. If negotiations fail, disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Bangalore, India.
18. Entire Agreement
These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and Naveen Bhavnani regarding the use of the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.
